09 Mar COEMIG Desigination Doctors | What Does COEMIG Mean?
Looking for a COEMIG designated OB/GYN? Here’s what COEMIG designation means about your doctor.
Most of our doctors are COEMIG certified minimally invasive surgeons. COEMIG stands for Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology. Each of our surgeons receive this designation only after completion of intense training and a lengthy evaluation process.
This international certification is given only to those surgeons around the world who are able to provide minimally invasive treatment options to patients with highest level of success and patient safety.
Minimally invasive surgery can include laparoscopic, robotic, vaginal and hysteroscopic surgical options. These types of procedures result in faster recovery, less pain and fewer complications.
We are proud to be among the very first COEMIG certified surgeons in Montgomery County and all of Maryland.
Dedicated to Excellence
The goal of the COEMIG program is to improve the quality and the surgical results to patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery by;
- Improving patient safety
- Improving patient satisfaction
- Increasing access to minimally invasive surgery
- Creating and sharing a database providing surgical outcomes
- Lowering overall costs (compared to other methods)
For our doctors, and others who have achieved this distinction, COEMIG certification means they are recognized as healthcare providers who deliver exceptional, high-quality healthcare.
COEMIG Designated Physicians
The AAGL (formerly known as the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists) and the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) administer the guidelines for COEMIG designation.
The AAGL is a leader in gynecologic minimally invasive surgery (the terms “minimally invasive surgery” are used in many fields of medicine). Members have pioneered and refined the most effective and successful gynecologic procedures to the present level of safety and popularity. The AAGL is committed to the advancement of minimally invasive gynecology worldwide in the interest of safety, results and overall costs.
