Being able to care for women from the earliest stages of their women’s health needs and continuing that care through their lifetime is a great responsibility, but one filled with tremendous opportunity to help make a true difference for them.

Dr. Anne Shrout has been practicing OB/GYN for more than 30 years. She is a native Marylander but spent the early part of her professional career as an active duty US Army physician. After completing her military service, she returned to Montgomery County in 2004 to start her civilian practice. She draws on her education as well as her personal experience to guide her in patient interactions and decision making.

Dr. Shrout has particular interest and extensive experience in advanced vaginal and reconstructive pelvic surgery and minimally invasive surgical techniques including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Her knowledge and skill includes all aspects of GYN including adolescent and menopausal care, hormonal therapy, endometriosis, fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, and pelvic pain.

Dr. Shrout received her undergraduate degree at Middlebury College in Vermont, then attended medical school at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Maryland. Her residency was at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington. For 15 years, she cared for female soldiers and women within military families at army posts around the United States, including Washington, Kentucky, and Alaska and now continues to serve her country as a reservist army physician.

Dr. Shrout is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

 

Outside the Office

Dr. Shrout and her husband, Joe, have been married for over 30 years. He is retired from the army, and is a local orthopedic surgeon. They are empty nesters but have three 3 young adult daughters who have grown up in the area, attending local schools and playing in local club sports team. Dr. Shrout is an avid runner and weight lifter, and also loves to play golf, snow skiing and waterskiing. She is a big fan of Washington baseball and football- go NATs!.
