FemVue® for Ultrasound Evaluation of the Fallopian Tubes
What is FemVue?
Blocked fallopian tubes account for a large portion of infertility cases. FemVue allows your OBGYN to check for blocked fallopian tubes in order to diagnose the cause of your infertility.
The FemVue device is used to introduce a consistent alternating pattern of saline and air in a continuous stream. This helps your doctor visualize your fallopian tubes and evaluate whether or not they are open as a means of evaluating infertility causes. FemVue is a convenient, reliable and cost-effective way to have your fallopian tubes checked. Natural saline-air bubbles, created by FemVue, let your gynecologist quickly look at your tubes. The test is completed in the comfort of your GYN’s office and usually takes less than 15 minutes.
The Sono HSG Test
Sono HSG is a safe, simple, and effective ultrasound alternative to the X-ray HSG. FemVue Sono HSG only uses saline, air, and ultrasound. It is a safe and reliable alternative to the conventional hysterosalpingogram (HSG) which uses x-rays and x-ray contrast dye. To start the test, an ultrasound probe is inserted into the vagina to look at your anatomy in more detail. Your doctor will then clean your cervix and place a thin balloon catheter into your uterine cavity. Before FemVue, your doctor may deliver saline alone to look at your uterine cavity as part of your infertility work-up. Your doctor will then deliver “bubbles” created by FemVue to determine if your tubes are open or blocked. The test usually takes less than 15 minutes to complete, and the results are available immediately.
